The history and mission of From the Earth Pottery
My Story
My name is Dene’e Jones. I am the owner and creator of From the Earth Pottery and an elementary art teacher in McDonald County, Missouri. I am blessed to be both creator and guide to young creators.
From the time I was a young girl, art has always been part of who I am. I cannot imagine life without it. Exploring, dreaming, experimenting and creating are the best parts of the human experience. We are made to create. I was blessed to be born into a family who believes this. They are artisans, tradesmen, and learners. All of my life, they have encouraged me to attempt new things, learn, and create. When I wanted to give pottery a try, my dad decided to give me a month of lessons as a birthday gift. There has not been a day go by since I have not made something from clay.

The Mission
From the Earth Pottery was born out of a love for creating that was imparted to me by my parents and molded in me by my Creator. It is no accident that my maiden name means “of the earth.” I have always loved playing in the mud. My hope is that my pieces will give joy to all those who receive and use them, just as they have given me pure joy in creating them.
